Duanwu Festival 端午节 (duānwǔjié)

Today is the Duanwu Festival, which falls on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, and therefore, it is also called Double Fifth. On this holiday, people prepare and eat rice dumplings 粽子 (zòngzi), drink realgar wine 雄黄酒 (xiónghuángjiǔ), and race dragon boats 划龙舟 (huálóngzhōu). Although there are other traditional activities including all kinds of games, dragon boat racing contests are the most common and signature activity, the festival therefore is also called the Dragon Boat Festival.
